Selling Photography

If you enjoy taking photographs, you may be able to earn an income from home with your hobby. As with written words, images are also very much needed on the internet. Everyone seems to like the pretty, artistic type of photography (and there will always be a market for pretty images) but stock photos are very much in demand. Stock photos are images of everyday items, products or events. These images will be used in advertising, packaging, articles, etc.

To earn a living selling photography, you will need a quality digital camera that takes high resolution photographs, and knowledge of image editing software. Put together a portfolio of your best wrork, and then you can start selling the images.

There are three different types of websites that will sell your photos:

Stock photography sites which handle royalty free images will sell your photos to people who will pay for the use of your photograph, yet you will retain all the rights to the image. You could sell the same photograph over and over, making money, and yet you can still retain the copyrights to that image.

Rights-managed photography sites will display your photos, and then sell them to whomever wants to purchase them, but, in most cases, you lose the copyright to the image.

Print photography sites will display your photographs, and will print and ship it when someone orders a print of it. All you will need to do is upload the image to them.
